I am able to find a link to the online version of the Fiji Times article, www.fijitimes.com/story.aspx?id=176000, but the printed version mentioned a savings of 1/4 million over the 25 year life of the project. By "independent from FEA", FRIEND hope to be able to save the expense of the electricity costs, by contributing unused energy back to FEA and reducing their carbon footprint. You are correct though, the system does require the FEA grid to operate as it gets it synchronisation from the grid itself as well as draw power during the dark hours. I hope that makes sense.
